Like most women, Heli hated the constrictions associated with ‘dieting’. That was until she discovered a flexible meal plan which helped her to lose 2 stone, without feeling as though she was dieting.
Here she tells us her story…
What made you decide to join us?
After an operation to remove my thyroid, I gave myself a few months to recover and then decided it was time to get healthy. The online support that the healthy eating programme offered really appealed to me. It was flexible and included a wide variety of meal plans to choose from.
Was your weight causing you any problems?
Not being able to lose weight caused me to lack confidence. I couldn’t find anything comfortable to wear, and found the experience of changing rooms very frustrating, because clothes I liked never fitted.
Tell us about your diet before you joined us, and how it has changed?
I used to be able to eat large meal portions. I snacked at night whilst watching television and I couldn’t resist chocolate and ice cream. Now I can only eat small portions and I avoid snacking between meals.
What difference has losing weight made to you?
I have regained my confidence and I feel so much healthier. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. This has also had a knock on effect on my children who have seen that you can enjoy food without eating junk.
What part, if any, has exercise played in helping you to lose weight?
I walked daily, and as my weight dropped I found that my exercise has increased. Now as well as walking, I cycle for 10-15 miles per week.
Have you enjoyed the meal plans? This is the best diet programme I have tried. The meal plans and recipes are lovely. The online support has been so encouraging. At no time did I feel pressured into eating foods I don’t like.
How do you feel about your weight loss?
I have so much more confidence and enjoy the freedom of being able to wear a range of clothes that I like, rather than making do with clothes that were designed to hide my figure. I am also looking forward to being able to wear bikinis and I no longer feel self conscious about having my photo taken.
Do you feel confident about maintaining your weight loss?
After the initial weight loss of one stone in 6 weeks the loss became steadier. I don't feel like I'm on a diet. Last summer I was unwell and unable to exercise, but, because I used the meal plans and online support I still managed to maintain the diet.
Have you any other tips you would like to give?
We all have bad days, but I think the key to success is to start each day fresh.
